Differences between Lavien Laser and other facial lasers
Technical and detailed comparison, written in Spanish, to understand what place the Laser Lavien occupies in the vast world of aesthetic apparatus and why it differs radically from classic lasers.
The laser market can be divided into two groups: ablative ones (very aggressive, many results, much recovery) and non-ablative ones (very soft, few visible results, no recovery).
El Lavien (Tulio 1927 nm) has triumphed because he is located right in the middle: he is the “Sub-Ablative Laser”. Provides visible results in texture and tone without the aggression of an open burn.
- Lavien vs. Fractionated CO2 Laser (The “Heavy Weight”)
CO2 is the gold standard for deep wrinkles and severe scars, but it has a high price for recovery.
Feature Fractional CO2 Laser Lavien Laser (Tulio)
Mechanism Vaporizes (burns) columns of skin. Make physical agujeros. Coagulates proteins without breaking the surface layer. Keep your skin closed.
Recovery 7-14 days. Swollen face, visible brown ribs, suppuration. Obligatory social downgrade. 5-7 days. Red face 1 day and enjoy “smooth effect” (invisible micro-backs). Normal life with makeup.
Risk High risk of stains (HPI) in the sun. Prohibited in summer. Riesgo low. Apt in summer with strict protection.
Objective Deep wrinkles, severe sagging, deep scars. Pores, shine (Glow), superficial spots, melasma and fine texture.
High pain (requires powerful anesthesia or sedation). Medium/Low (tolerable with anesthetic cream).
Verdict: CO2 is supposed to “change skin” every 10 years. El Lavien is to “perfect the skin” every year.
- Lavien vs. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
Although IPL is used for blemishes, it is technically not a laser (it is a flash lamp), and its effects are distinct.
Precision: The IPL shoots an uncontrolled flash of light. El Lavien is a pure and concentrated haze of light.
Texture and Pores: IPL treats the color well (red and brown), but there is little difference in texture or pore size. El Lavien, being a fractionated laser, stimulates real collagen and visibly tightens the pore.
Safety on dark skin: IPL has a high risk of burns on dark or tanned skin because it “attacks” all dark skin. El Lavien, although it has an affinity for water and in soil for pigment, is much safer in high phototypes (III, IV).
Hair: IPL can burn the facial skin or, worse, stimulate it (paradoxical effect). El Lavien respects the fur (you can do it in the blind or around the birth of the fur without fear).
Verdict: If you only have red/brown spots, IPL will do. If you want a porcelain and glitter texture, you need Lavien.
- Lavien vs. Q-Switched Laser | Picoseconds
These are lasers that are used to remove very specific tattoos and stains.
Mechanism: Q-Switched/Pico works by acoustic wave. “Exploit” the pigment by breaking it into pieces. Does not generate heat.
The Glow effect: Although it does not generate heat, tattoo lasers do not stimulate both the renewal of the epidermis and superficial collagen. It eliminates the stain, but does not leave the skin beautiful and supple.
Lavien: Works through thermal effect. By warming and renewing the underlying epidermis, the stain is erased on the ground, leaving the entire face looking “new” and polished.
Verdict: Q-Switched for very deep spot stains. Wash for global tone and skin tone rejuvenation.
- Lavien vs. Erbio:Glass (Classical Non-Ablative Lasers)
Lasers like the Fraxel Dual (in its soft mode) or the Clear & Brilliant are close cousins, but Lavien has perfected the technique.
Versatility: The Lavien allows you to adjust the intensity to behave as a gentle blurrer (glow effect for events) or more aggressive to treat acne scars.
The “BB Effect”: What distinguishes Lavien is its unique ability to treat the dermal-epidermal junction. This is where the rebellious melanocytes of melasma reside and where the refraction of light is defined. This is why the Lavien gives more shine (Glow) than other non-ablative lasers that go too deep without treating the surface.
- Summary: Why choose Lavien?
Choose Lavien when looking for the perfect balance between results and time:
- You can't allow yourself to stay at home for 1 week with a costly face (CO2).
- You want to treat pores and blemishes at a time (although IPL doesn't happen twice).
- It has Melasma (the Lavien is the safest laser not to activate it due to rebound effect).
- You are looking for this effect of Korean “glass pie” that cremas promise but do not fulfill.
The Lavien does not replace a lifting or a deep CO2 for 70 year old wrinkles, but it is the definitive tool for modern women and men who want perfect, luminous and uniform skin without changing their rhythm of life.
